After struggling with anxiety and depression for years, Pete Bush became interested in cognitive behavior techniques while an undergraduate. He began implementing the interventions and was able to alleviate his self-induced disturbances. Emboldened by the changes he saw in himself, Pete determined that he wanted to learn to help others find the success that he found. He finished his undergraduate degree and completed his master's degree in psychology at Valdosta State University in the summer of 2016. In the intervening years, Pete cut his teeth in community mental health, working with a wide variety of clients of different ethnicities, cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. The common factor in what worked? Openness to the therapeutic experience, open-mindedness, and a willingness to put in the work - because 1. change requires change and 2. it takes discipline and work to change oneself. Pete started Arch Theory Counseling to put himself in the path of clients who have the mindset to get better and who are not afraid to get comfortable being uncomfortable.
